6 We Should Know the Significance of God’s Raising Up the Man Used by the Holy Spirit

In “Ten Administrative Decrees God’s Chosen People Must Keep” it is stipulated: “In the work or the church affairs, apart from obeying God, you should take orders from the man used by the Holy Spirit in everything and should not disobey any of them but should obey them absolutely. Do not analyze whether they are right or wrong. Whether they are right or wrong has nothing to do with you. You should just obey them absolutely.” However, many people do not understand why God requires us to absolutely obey the man used by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, some of them do not value at all the work of the man used by the Holy Spirit, always thinking that the man used by the Holy Spirit is after all a man and not God, so the work he does is not likely in complete accordance with God’s will and is not necessarily one hundred percent reliable and correct. With such a thought, some are simply unwilling to read the fellowships and preachings of the man used by the Holy Spirit, thinking that they would rather read more of God’s word than “The Fellowship of the Man” if they have time. Others, even though they read “The Fellowship of the Man,” simply skim over it, making no attempt to understand the truth or God’s will from it. And still others only know that no matter whether the word of God fits their notions, they should accept and obey it and should not pass judgment on it recklessly. But as to the fellowship of the man used by the Holy Spirit, if they find in it anything that does not fit their notions, they cannot accept it, and they dare to judge and criticize it at will, saying, “How could the man used by the Holy Spirit speak like this? How could he use some popular sayings, such as, ‘to see whether it is a horse or mule, just let it have a race,’ ‘Pig fights against a demon—can do nothing,’ and so on?” And when any work arrangement does not fit their notions, they have doubts for fear that it may be from man’s will. For example, on the stipulations about expelling and purging people, many of them had this thought: “God’s will is to save man to the utmost. Could these stipulations about expelling people be in accordance with God’s will?” Also when the work arrangement required that people be classified into different groups for meetings, they again had a thought: “If this is carried out, won’t those who do not pursue fall? Isn’t it devoid of love? Could this be God’s will? Isn’t it likely to be a method thought up by the man used by the Holy Spirit?” We have such attitudes toward and opinions about the work of the man used by the Holy Spirit mainly because of three reasons: the first is that we do not understand the substance of the work of the man used by the Holy Spirit, the second is that we do not understand why God raises up the man used by the Holy Spirit, and the third is that we do not know the nature and the consequences of not accepting the work of the man used by the Holy Spirit.

I Have Come Home

I have believed in the Lord for more than ten years and served in the church for two years, then left the church to go abroad for work. I have been to many places including Singapore and have earned a lot of money, but in this existence in modern society, where the strong prey on the weak, and where people compete with and scheme against each other, where each person tries to outdo the other in treachery, I have faced innumerable complex interpersonal relations and was always on my guard against others. They were also on their guard against me, and this gave me the feeling the whole time in the depths of my heart that I couldn’t find any stable ground to stand on. This way of life made me feel exhausted in body and spirit. The only thing that offered me any consolation was the diary I carried with me in which I kept some pages of scriptures I had excerpted. Sometimes I would read them and they would fill in the emptiness in my spirit. Even though I hadn’t gone to a church gathering in many years, since last year I just had one thing in mind: to find a church in which I could serve the Lord in earnest. After that, I took advantage of some free time to go to large and small churches in Malaysia but I always went there happy and left feeling discouraged. I always felt I was lacking something inside, but I could never figure out exactly what it was. In this contradictory state, I went to another extreme, just playing video games online and watching movies, sometimes playing all night or watching one movie after another. My work and sleep schedule were a mess. When I first started doing this I was somewhat conscious that the Lord was displeased with me, but I gradually became numb. It was just at that time that I lost my cell phone. At the time, I complained inwardly about it. My cell phone was lost, and with it a lot of data was gone, and I had no way to log in to Facebook…. On the surface, this was a bad thing, but I never expected that it would be a turning point for my life. It was just like the Chinese proverb, “An old man loses his horse, but who knows what good fortune will come?”

I Have Come to Know How to Distinguish Between the True Christ and False Christs

In 2010, the winter in the United States made me feel very cold. In addition to the bitter cold from the combination of wind and snow, what was even more serious was that my heart had been invaded and attacked by a “cold wave.” For those of us in the interior decorating business, winter is the hardest time of the year, because once winter starts there is very little work. We even face losing our jobs. This year was my first year in the United States, I was fresh off the boat, and I felt that everything was unfamiliar to me. Renting an apartment, finding a job, nothing was easy, and my days were full of hardships. It got to the point to where I was borrowing money to rent an apartment. Being faced with this kind of predicament put me in a bout of sadness, and I felt like the days were really hard to bear. At night I faced the ice-cold wall, with so much pain in me that all I wanted to do was cry. One day, as I walked around listlessly in my state of sadness someone who was spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus handed out a card to me, and said: “The Lord Jesus loves you, brother, come to our church and listen to the Lord’s gospel!” I thought to myself: I guess there’s nothing I have to do right now, so there’s no harm in me going to listen to this, I might as well, it’s something to do. So like that, I stepped into the church. I heard the pastor read aloud the Lord Jesus saying: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Jhn 3:16). When I heard this sentence I felt deeply moved by the Lord’s love. I cannot clearly explain the kind of feeling it was, but I could feel that the Lord’s love was real, and that it surpassed the love of the entire secular world. My grief-laden heart felt greatly consoled. As a result, I decided to dedicate myself to putting trust in the Lord Jesus. Afterward I started enthusiastically participating in meetings every Sunday, and because of my enthusiastic pursuit I quickly became a co-worker in the church.

That Day the Sky Was Especially Clear and Sunny

I used to be a believer in the Three-Self Church in China. When I first started participating in gatherings, the pastors would often say to us: “Brothers and sisters, it is recorded in the Bible that: ‘For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation’ (Rom 10:10). We’ve been justified due to our faith. Since we believe in Jesus, we have been saved. If we believed in any other, then we wouldn’t have been saved….” I held on to these words of the pastors. As a result, I ardently pursued and actively attended gatherings as I waited for the Lord to come and let me into the kingdom of heaven. Later on, as unlawful deeds kept occurring in the church, it made me feel fed up with the gatherings there. Among the pastors they were divided and partitioned, each trying to establish themselves at the top of the faction and set up independent kingdoms. The sermons from the pastors needed to obey the United Front Work Department (UFWD). The UFWD didn’t allow them to discuss the Book of Revelation out of fear that it would disturb popular sentiment, so the pastors didn’t preach it. The pastors would often preach about donation, saying that the more one donated then the more blessings they would receive from God…. So when I saw that these were the circumstances in the church I felt quite bewildered: Why did the church change into this current form? Do the pastors not believe in the Lord? Why do they not follow the Lord’s word? Why do they not have a heart of reverence for the Lord? From that point on I no longer wanted to go to gatherings at the Three-Self Church, for I felt that they did not truly believe in God, that they were false shepherds who acted in the name of believing in God in order to obtain the hard-earned money from brothers and sisters.

Who Is the Obstacle on the Road to the Heavenly Kingdom?

The year my husband died, I was deep in despair, and on top of that I had the added burden of raising my children. Hardship had suddenly befallen my life, but I had the love of the Lord with me all along, and with the help of my brothers and sisters I got through this difficult time. To recompense the love of the Lord, I continued to make donations and serve the church, and have been doing so for over thirty years. In this time, I have experienced the thriving of the church and seen the glorious occasion of the spread of the gospel of the Lord Jesus. I’ve also witnessed desolation and helplessness in the church. I thought back to when the Holy Spirit first began to do the great work in the church, when we experienced enjoyment and gained much from listening to the pastor’s preaching. There was mutual love among the brothers and sisters just as if we were all one family, and everyone was united in spreading the gospel and bearing witness to the Lord. Later, without knowing what had happened, there was no longer any light in what the pastor preached. It was like everything was just the same old story repeated again and again, and the believers simply could not get anything to nourish them. Their faith and love gradually waned, and there were fewer and fewer people coming to gatherings. Those of us who participated in service were also just going through the motions. We all acted according to the wishes of the people in the ministry and not at all in the service of God, but rather we just exerted ourselves in front of other people and tried to win their admiration. I knew that this kind of service was not in line with God’s will, and so it was very painful for me. I also felt helpless, with no idea how to walk the path ahead of me. I hoped all the more for the Lord to return as soon as possible, so that all these problems would be solved.

A Different Kind of Love

By a chance opportunity in 2011, I came to Brazil from China. When I had just arrived, my eyes were overflowing with fresh and new experiences, curiosity, and I had a beautiful feeling about the future. But after a short time, this fresh and new feeling was quickly replaced by the loneliness and pain of finding myself in a far-off foreign land. Every day I went back home all alone, ate by myself, looking at the walls around me every day without anyone even to talk to, and I felt especially lonely in my heart, often crying all alone. When I felt the most pain and helpless, the Lord Jesus brought me into a gathering by means of a friend. Through reading the word of the Lord, singing hymns, and praying in gatherings, my lonely heart received the consolation of the Lord. I learned from the Bible that the heavens and earth and all things were created by God, and man too is God’s creation. The Lord Jesus was crucified for the redemption of mankind, and it was the Lord Jesus who redeemed us from sin, and He is the only Redeemer of mankind. In the face of the Lord’s salvation, which is greater than all else, I felt deeply moved and resolved to follow the Lord for the rest of my life. Because of this I was baptized on Thanksgiving to become a Christian not just in name but in reality. Because I liked singing songs, especially those in praise of God, after I was baptized I took the initiative to join the choir and work as part of it. Through God’s guidance and blessings, I lived in peace and happiness. Every time I went to a gathering or praised God in worship, I felt suffused with energy.

I Am Following the Footsteps of the Lamb

When I was 18 years old my mother got ill, and so she started believing in the Lord Jesus. At the time, I knew the Lord Jesus’ name but didn’t understand anything about faith in the Lord. It was quite a coincidence that I later went to work for a company where most of the employees were Christians. Through interacting with them, I saw how they treated people with love and patience, and I came to believe that Christians were a pretty good bunch of people. During that period, there was a colleague who often told me the story about how the Lord Jesus was nailed to the cross in order to redeem mankind. I gradually developed an interest in faith in the Lord, and started going with my colleagues to their church to worship. The first time I entered the church and heard hymns praising God being sung I was unexpectedly moved to tears by the Lord’s love. I prayed to the Lord like this: “Oh, Lord Jesus! Thank You for picking me out of the vast ocean of humanity to become one of Your daughters. I wish to follow You forever….” During that period, whenever I met some difficulties in my daily life, or was mocked by my friends and relatives because of my faith in the Lord, as long as I came in front of the Lord and prayed, my spirit would find immense release. I felt that the Lord Jesus was my only reliance in life and that I would never leave the Lord’s side. At that time my favorite hymn was: “Rock, rock, Jesus Christ! Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven, only You are the Savior. You are the Mediator, You are the Son of God, You are the Lamb. You are the way and the truth, You are the life, You are the light, You are the rock, the fortress, the city of refuge and the shield. We belong to You; we will never be shaken from generation to generation.” And this is how I relied on the Lord’s great power and motivation gained from the guidance of the Lord’s words to get through all the difficulties and troubles of life.

1. Obey the authority of God’s words; God’s words are supreme and they are the highest directive and the highest commandment, and you must completely obey;

2. Obey the authority of Christ; accept and obey all of Christ’s utterances and work, and you must obey and worship the incarnate, practical God;

3. Obey the authority of the work of the Holy Spirit; only by obeying all of the Holy Spirit’s work can you understand the truth and enter into the reality of God’s words;

4. Obey the leadership and shepherding of the man used by the Holy Spirit; pursue the truth and fulfill your duty in strict accordance with the principles of the work arrangements.

Bearing a resounding witness for God is mainly related to whether you have an understanding of the practical God or not, and whether or not you are able to obey in front of this person who is not only ordinary, but normal, and even obey until the death. If you truly bear a witness for God through this obedience, that means you have been obtained by God. Being able to obey to the death, and being free of complaints in front of Him, not making judgments, not slandering, not having notions, and not having any other intentions—this way God will gain glory. God gains glory when these words conquer you and make you fully obedient to Him; through this He shames Satan and completes His work. When you don’t have any notions of the practicality of God incarnate, that is, when you stand firm in this trial, then you bear a good witness. If there is a day when you have full understanding of the practical God and you can obey until the death like Peter, you will be gained by God, and be perfected by Him. …

During God’s time in the flesh, the obedience He requires of people is not what people imagine—to not make judgments or resist. Rather, He requires that people make His words their principle for life and the foundation of their survival, that they absolutely put the essence of His words into practice, and that they absolutely satisfy His will. One aspect of requiring people to obey God incarnate refers to putting His words into practice, and another aspect refers to being able to obey His normalcy and practicality. These must be both absolute. Those who can achieve both of these aspects are all those who have a heart of genuine love for God. They are all people who have been gained by God, and they all love God as they love their own life.

The Holy Spirit works exactly in the way I speak. Do as I have said, and the Holy Spirit will promptly work in you. He may work in you for the present, and when you have experienced it, He may work in someone else next. No matter what manner of man he may be, so long as the Holy Spirit works in him, make sure to follow. Take in his experiences through your own, and you will receive even higher things. In so doing you will progress more quickly. This is the path of perfection for man and a way through which life grows. The path to being made perfect is reached through your obedience to the work of the Holy Spirit. You do not know through what kind of person God will work to perfect you, nor through what person, occurrence, or thing He will enable you to enter into possession and to gain some insight. If you are able to walk onto this right track, it shows that there is great hope for you to be perfected by God. If you are unable to do so, it shows that your future is bleak and devoid of light. Once you get on the right track, you will gain revelation in all things. No matter what the Holy Spirit may reveal to others, if you proceed on the basis of their knowledge to experience things on your own, then this experience will become a part of your life, and you will be able to supply others out of this experience. Those who supply others by parroting words are people who have not had any experiences; you must learn to find, through the enlightenment and illumination of others, a way of practice before you can begin to speak of your own actual experience and knowledge. This will be of greater benefit to your own life. You should experience in this way, obeying all that comes from God. You should seek the will of God in all things and study the lessons in all things, that your life may mature and grow. This kind of practice affords the fastest progress.

7. In work and matters of the church, apart from obeying God, in everything you should follow the instructions of the man who is used by the Holy Spirit. Even the slightest infraction is unacceptable. You must be absolute in your compliance, and must not analyze right or wrong; what’s right or wrong has nothing to do with you. You must only concern yourself with total obedience.

In their work, workers must pay attention to two points: One is to do the work exactly according to the principles stipulated by the work arrangements. Workers must not violate these principles, not work according to their own imaginations, and not according to their own will. They should show concern for the work of God’s family, and put the interests of the family of God first in everything they do. The other point is also key, and that is, in everything they do, to pay attention to following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and to do everything strictly in keeping with the word of God. If you disobey the guidance of the Holy Spirit or if you stubbornly follow your own mind and do things according to your own imagination, this constitutes a most serious opposition to God…. It is these two main principles to abide by while at work: One is to perform the work exactly according to the arrangements from the above, and to perform tasks with the principles that have been set forth by the above. The other point is to follow guidance from the Holy Spirit within.

The Man’s Fellowship:

There are four principles that are the most important in obeying God. These four principles are also the four authorities. First, obey the authority of God’s word. The word of God is supreme. The word of God is the highest instruction and the highest command. A man who can obey the authority of God’s word is a person who obeys God. Second, obey the authority of Christ. If one only obeys God’s word but disobeys Christ, then such a person is not a person who obeys God, because he still resists Christ and resists the Expresser of the truth. It shows that there is still rebellion and resistance in him. He only obeys the superficial aspects of God’s word. If he also obeys the authority of Christ, then his obedience is complete. There are some leaders and workers who only obey the superficial aspects of God’s word, but violate the inner enlightenment and illumination of the Holy Spirit. Are those the people who resist God? This is not true obedience. So the second principle of obedience to the authority of Christ is crucial. Some people only read and accept God’s word but exclude and disobey Christ. They treat Christ as an ordinary person. Such people are those who resist God and are antichrists. Third, obey the authority of the Holy Spirit’s work. God’s work is accomplished through the word of God. At the same time, the Holy Spirit works on us through enlightenment and illumination to guide us into God’s word and understand the truth. If a person does not obey the authority of the Holy Spirit’s work, can such a person truly understand the truth and enter God’s word? Certainly not. Therefore, man can never gain the truth by relying on his own mind and by believing in whatever way he wants to believe, and he can never be made perfect by God. This is the meaning of obeying the authority of the Holy Spirit’s work. Fourth, obey the arrangements of the man used by the Holy Spirit. This one is also crucial. It does not work without the guidance and shepherding of the man used by the Holy Spirit. This is also a principle of obeying God.

In God’s house, it is God and God’s word that are in power. God’s disposition is supreme; it is the symbol of supreme power. Therefore, all God’s chosen people should honor God as the greatest, exalt God’s word, and absolutely obey the authority of Christ and the authority of God’s word. This is perfectly justified and proper. Otherwise, it is outrageous and intolerable by Heaven. In the church, the word of God is above all else. God’s word is truly the highest instruction and the highest command. The authority of God’s word is the highest authority, which fully represents the will of Heaven, the command of Heaven. Under the authority of God’s word, anyone must obey. All those who have the Holy Spirit’s work have the authority to execute God’s commands, and they all have the authority to uphold God’s work. This is the symbol of the Age of Kingdom. Anyone who dares to defy the authority of God’s word is disobedient and resistant to God. Anyone who dares to defy the arrangements of the man used by the Holy Spirit and engage in another set of arrangements is displaying betrayal of God. In the face of God’s word and the truth, whoever absolutely obeys is the one who truly obeys God. Whoever dares to disobey is the one who resists God. Absolutely obeying the authority of God’s word and absolutely obeying the authority of Christ is the highest state of obedience to God. Those who dare to judge God’s work and the arrangements of the man used by the Holy Spirit to establish an independent kingdom are all antichrists and must be eliminated!

To obey God is to obey everything that comes from God. This includes everything that God says and every truth that God has. This also encompasses obeying the Holy Spirit’s work and obeying all of God’s domination and arrangements. This is what it means to obey God. Those that genuinely obey God do not make individual choices or have their own personal impurities when they obey God. They unconditionally and absolutely practice in accordance with God’s meaning and requirements. They obey God like soldiers following orders—these are people who genuinely obey God. They are able to absolutely obey the authority of God’s words. They can obey until death without any complaints whatsoever. This is the highest realm of obeying God. Those who obey God with conditions, reasons or personal choices are not people that genuinely obey God. …

… Those who genuinely obey God and put the truth into practice obey God from their hearts. They completely keep a heart that obeys God when they put the truth into practice. Their hearts have already obeyed God. Afterward, they adhere to the principles of practice. The results that can be attained through practicing obedience to God in this manner are that one will have a change in one’s life disposition and that one will have a heart that obeys and reveres God. In practicing the truth this way, you are using your heart, and at the same time using actions to satisfy God. The results from this way of practice will let other people see that this person indeed is someone that reveres God. This person’s heart indeed is considerate of God’s will and it satisfies God.

The man whom the Holy Spirit uses is guided, used and controlled by the Holy Spirit. His work arrangements and fellowship and sermons are all for the purpose of bringing people before God to enter onto the right track of believing in God. If people cannot accept and obey work which comes from the Holy Spirit, this is enough to show that people do not obey God’s work. If people are unable to obey the leadership and shepherding of the man the Holy Spirit uses, then surely it can’t mean that they are able to directly obey God? It is absolutely impossible for all those who cannot accept and obey the truth to truly obey God. This even more proves that people who have Satan’s nature and are arrogant and conceited obey no one. All those who cannot accept and obey the leadership and shepherding of the man whom the Holy Spirit uses certainly look down upon any leaders and workers. Such people are certainly not people who accept God’s judgment and chastisement and obey God’s work. What they choose is definitely not Peter’s road, but Paul’s road.

1. You must, according to God’s words, bear clear and insightful testimony to God’s work of the last days. You must dispel people’s conceptions and imaginings, removing the obstacles and hurdles that stand in their way.

2. You must conscientiously analyze and look into every potential convert, establishing actionable proposals and striving to open up the situation as effectively as possible.

3. You must choose the right recipients for the gospel, and flexibly adopt a variety of enlightened methods. As long as you do not break the law or commit a crime, you should do whatever it takes to gain more people.
